We're All Heroes!
Thank you to everyone that helped to make this campaign an incredible success. We did it! $1,000 for local Red Cross services!

Your generosity and willingness to help promote this campaign has been absolutely amazing.

Today I learned that community-wide, we've raised more than $50,000 for the Heroes for the Red Cross campaign. We could not have done it without you!

You guys rock!
Who Does the Red Cross Help?
In 2007, I joined the board of the Monroe County Chapter (Bloomington, IN) and have been fortunate to learn firsthand about the many admirable services that the Red Cross provides. Last year, the American Red Cross:

* helped victims of almost 70,000 disasters;
* taught lifesaving skills to more than 15 million people;
* helped U.S. service members separated from their families stay connected; and
* supplied blood to hospitals and health facilities from 4 million volunteer donors.

One of the most common misperceptions that I hear from people is that the American Red Cross is an agency working on behalf of the U.S. government. The American Red Cross is chartered by the U.S. government to provide domestic and international disaster relief. However, it is an independent entity that is organized and exists as a nonprofit, tax-exempt, charitable institution. The Red Cross relies on donations of time, money, and blood to do its work.

That's why it is so important that people like us support its mission through volunteer work, education and donations. I hope you will consider a gift to the Red Cross to ensure they are able to provide their vital services for the next local disaster that strikes in our area. Red Cross: Where Heroes Save Lives.
I am proud to announce that for the third year in row I am taking part in the Heroes for the American Red Cross campaign. Each Hero fundraiser pledges to raise $1,000 for the Red Cross in two months between March and April. This annual fundraising campaign is vital to ensure that the Red Cross can deliver its emergency, lifesaving and disaster services to local, state and regional areas. We all know people who live near us who have been affected by fires, floods and other emergency situations. This campaign ensures the Red Cross can help our friends, families and community members that live closest to us. I hope you will consider supporting this important campaign.

The Red Cross helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Over the past year, the work of the Red Cross has touched the lives of millions of people affected by disastrous circumstances, both in the U.S. and overseas. It’s people like us that ensure that the Red Cross can help people for years to come.

The funds from the Heroes campaign will be used to support Red Cross services, such as disaster relief, assistance for fire victims, emergency military communications, first aid and CPR training and disaster preparedness information for our community.

Thank you so much for you generosity in helping me achieve my goal. Whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated. To donate, click on the Chipin button.

All payments are processed securely through Pay Pal (note: receipt will indicate payment was made to Sue Gulley, the Executive of the Monroe County Red Cross). If you have any questions, contact me at betsy@trotzke.com or 812-391-0395
